Christian Sports League Tucson

Welcome to the Christian Sports League (CSL) family. We are grateful for your commitment to this league; although this is a recreational sport, we understand that God has given all of us a competitive nature and a desire to win. We, the coaches all expect that you will come out to have fun and fellowship with a family of likeminded individuals that all have a love for the game and the people that participate.

Code of Conduct

Christian Sports League (CSL) teams will establish and abide by a strict Code of Conduct governing all coaches, players, and guests. The purpose of the Code is to ensure that all of the people associated with the league treat each other with dignity and respect.

The Code of Conduct is a condition of membership for all players, guests, and coaches. All members of a team must agree to abide by the Code of Conduct and to be subjected to the consequences of violating the Code. It is understood that by committing to be a member of a team that players, guests and coaches are all bound by this Code of Conduct and its validity is hereby a matter of record and is not dependent upon a physical signature.

All enforcement decisions made by the CSL coach committee are final and are not subject to review. No refunds will be granted to those players dismissed from a team for violating the Code of Conduct.

Players

It is expected that all team participants read and understand the Player's Code of Conduct and continue to observe and follow all of the principles contained within the Code throughout the year.

  1. Fighting will not be tolerated. All players and any individuals involved in fighting will be immediately suspended from the game and any future CSL games or functions. They will immediately leave the park until further review by the CSL coach committee and will not be allowed to return until the committee approves it.
  2. There will be no drinking of alcohol in the park/dugouts, the ball fields or in the parking lot. If a player/team is caught with alcohol the WHOLE TEAM will be suspended for the next 2 games (1st offense). If a team is caught twice with alcohol, they will be suspended for the rest of the season.
  3. Smoking will not be allowed within the dugouts or just outside the dugouts. Smoking areas will be beyond the small section of the chain link fences that stick out at a 90 degree angle down the 1st and 3rd base lines.
  4. No lashing out at any umpires or committee members no matter what the call is. No swearing or abusive language on the bench, on the field, or at any CSL function. This includes guests and any music played in the dugouts or bleachers.
  5. Unsportsmanlike conduct, whether to the umpires or players on the other team will not be tolerated. It will be up to the discretion of the umpires to determine the unsportsmanlike conduct. The offending players will be suspended for the remainder of the game and the next legal game. The coach(es) of the offending players will also be suspended for the remainder of the game.
  6. After every game, each player is required to attend the post-game gathering at the mound. If a player refuses to take part in this, they will be suspended for the next 2 games. If a player continues to refuse, they will not be allowed to stay in the league.
    1. Players are not asked to share, pray or say anything, CSL just asks that you join your team at the mound out of respect for the league, your team and the other team as this is an important component of playing in the CHRISTIAN Sports League.
  7. Know the rules of the game and abide by them.
  8. Support and encourage your teammates. Set a positive example.
  9. Display good sportsmanship at all times on and off the field.
  10. Be modest in victory and gracious in defeat.

Coaches

It is expected that all CSL coaches reach and understand the Coaches' and Players' Codes of Conduct and continue to observe, enforce, and follow all of the principles contained within the Codes throughout the year. As a coach, you are the leader of your team so please lead your team by setting the example.

  1. Fighting will not be tolerated. If a coach is suspended for fighting he/she will not be allowed to return as a coach and the assistant coach will be the coach for the remainder of the season. Before being allowed to return and/or coach, he/she will have to present themselves before the CSL coach committee and explain why they should be allowed to coach again and the steps they have taken to make sure that if a similar situation happens, how they will handle it. The decision will be made by the CSL coach committee if they will be allowed to return as a player and/or coach.
  2. I will respect the other coaches in the CSL organization and work with them to ensure maximum benefit to all players. Any coach who shows disrespect towards any players or individuals will be suspended for 2 games and will be on probation for the remainder of the season.
  3. I will uphold the authority of the umpires to the games in which I coach and I will assist them in every way to conduct fair and impartial, competitive games.
  4. I will maintain self-control at all times. If a coach loses control, the coach committee will review the incident and decide what actions, if any, are warranted.
  5. I will not be openly critical of any players on my team, opposing teams, umpires, coaches or spectators. This is directly connected to #2 above and will carry the same penalties.
  6. I will conduct my games so that all players have an opportunity to improve their skill level through active participation.
  7. I will do my best to learn the fundamental skills, teaching and evaluation techniques, and strategies of the sport.
  8. I will become familiar with the rules of the sport including the additional rules agreed upon by the CSL coach committee specifically for the league.
  9. I will become familiar with the objectives of the CSL organization. I will strive to achieve these objectives and communicate them to my players and our spectators.
  10. I will attempt to teach my players to work hard to win but not to win at all costs.
  11. I will communicate to my players the responsibilities of individuals on our team.
  12. I will cooperate with the CSL organization in the enforcement of rules and regulations.
  13. I will protect the health and safety of my players by insisting that all of the activities under my control are conducted for the psychological and physiological welfare, rather than for the sole reason of winning.
  14. I agree to be a member of the CSL coach committee for reviewing of any disciplinary and/or rule issues when I am not the person/team that is the reason for the review.

Disciplinary Actions

All disciplinary actions will be reviewed by the CSL coach committee at the time of the incident/offense for fairness to all parties involved so as to do what is best in the eyes of the Lord, for the Glory of His name.

We should all desire to have a league that can shine a light onto a dark world and provide a place of fun and fellowship without the influences of the world.

Thank you and God Bless!
